Coronation Street fans were on the edge of their seats during Friday night's episode as Bernie Winter sought revenge on the villainous Naomi. Viewers will remember that not long ago, paramedic Asha Alahan was featured in a special episode that shadowed her during a shift. In that episode, Asha was subjected to appalling racist abuse by a woman named Naomi. Earlier this week, Asha, who has been struggling since the traumatic incident, decided to assist Ryan Connor with the careers fair at the hotel. However, Asha was unaware that the guest speaker was none other than the woman who had abused her and upon seeing her, Asha was left shaken. A courageous Asha decided to confront Naomi about how she tried to help her when she was intoxicated but was met with abuse and disrespect, reports the Liverpool Echo. However, Naomi denied everything and warned Asha against making baseless accusations. After the confrontation, a tearful Asha returned home and told her stepmother Bernie about her encounter with Naomi and her feigned ignorance. After reporting the incident to the police, Bernie confided in her husband and Asha's father, Dev Alahan, that according to her police officer son Kit Green, it would be difficult to press charges against Naomi as they only have Asha's account of what happened. Later, at the careers fair, an enraged Bernie found Naomi's laptop and as Naomi began her presentation, clicking on the first slide, she was horrified by what she saw as it revealed her true colours. Bernie, filled with pride, stood up and revealed to the stunned audience how Naomi had mistreated Asha, a paramedic and woman of colour. At the same time, Nina Lucas and Amy Barlow were busy capturing the drama on their mobiles, while Ryan put an end to the event. After viewing the video, Asha confronted her stepmum Bernie for meddling. In the meantime, Naomi stormed into their house, announcing she's suing Bernie for slander and promising to see her in court. The family found themselves needing legal counsel, while Asha went to face off with Naomi who issued a threat: drop the police report and she'd abandon the lawsuit. Soap fans might recognise Naomi actress Melissa Batchelor from her roles in various TV shows and competing soaps over the years. She appeared in Emmerdale in 2019 as Erica, Doctors in 2020 as Donna Jaywick, Hollyoaks in 2022 as D. S. Amaral and EastEnders earlier this year as Amelia. Her other credits include Silent Witness, Code of Silence, I May Destroy You, Top Boy, Benidorm, UGetMe and Casualty. Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
