Where are the safest and least safe spots to travel in Ann Arbor? City survey seeks input

ANN ARBOR, MI — How safe do you feel walking and biking in Ann Arbor? What about driving a car? And what are the worst and best streets or intersections in terms of safety? Ann Arbor residents and visitors who haven’t yet taken the city’s 2025 transportation survey have a few more days to share their thoughts before it closes Oct. 31. The city is gauging how people are using and thinking about the city’s transportation network. The survey feedback will help the city shape safer streets, better transit and smoother travel for everyone who moves through Ann Arbor, officials say. It’s part of the city’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate serious injuries and deaths from traffic crashes on city streets, a goal officials acknowledge the city failed to meet this year. The survey asks users of city streets how they primarily travel in the city, whether it’s driving, biking, walking or other modes, and whether they like the idea of getting to stores and other destinations without a car. It also asks which areas of the city people feel least and most comfortable traveling and what barriers prevent them from traveling around the city the ways they wish they could. Additionally, it asks to rate the experience traveling both in and outside a motor vehicle in Ann Arbor and how safe it feels. Take the survey. The city plans to repeat the survey over the next four years to track changes in attitudes, behaviors and satisfaction. Want more Ann Arbor-area news? Bookmark the local Ann Arbor news page.
