‘People Doing It On Purpose’: Man Shares Shocking Video Of Delhi–Saharanpur Expressway Vandalised Before Inauguration

The Delhi-Saharanpur Expressway has become a topic of concern even before its official opening. Despite not being inaugurated yet, several people have already started visiting the new highway, not to travel, but to damage it. A content creator recently shared a video showing how parts of the expressway have been vandalised. Streetlights were broken, cameras smashed and poles were damaged. He claimed that this destruction was done intentionally by locals. The content creator fears that if such things continue, soon the entire stretch will lose its lighting, cameras and safety features. The creator also expressed disappointment over people’s attitude, saying that this kind of behaviour only causes loss for everyone and shows disrespect for public property. He asked authorities to limit public access until the official launch. Before Opening, Delhi–Saharanpur Expressway Faces Vandalism Sharing the video on X (Twitter), the individual said, “The government built a highway in Delhi, the Delhi–Saharanpur highway. People say cheap materials were used and the poles must have broken in the wind, and you might think that too. But that is not true. The people who come here have deliberately broken things. The road had not even been opened yet and people had already damaged it. They are doing it on purpose. I think soon all the lights on the highway will be gone and the cameras will disappear as well.” “People are so angry with the government that they are vandalising the highway, they hate this government. This highway was built for us, so why are they burning its lights? People throw stones at the cameras. No matter which government comes, these people will not change. Do you think this will help us compete with China? I don’t think so. They will have to stop people from coming and going,” the content creator added. Civic Sense In India ?‍? pic.twitter.com/rl9VvkWhXn — THE INTREPID ?? (@Theintrepid_) October 27, 2025 Locals Accused Of Causing Damage Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Belt treatment is the only solution. We have seen that politeness or logic doesn’t work with them. Singapore-like reforms are needed to uplift on a large scale.” Another shared, “The Government just should not build infrastructure, but also have a mechanism to prevent any kind of vandalism and destruction to the facilities provided. Knowing how Indian mentality is, how come they don’t have any solution to this obvious absence of civic sense of our people?” “We want to be labelled as a third-world country for generations to come,” a comment read. An individual stated, “Not civic sense, this is chor sense and then they will ask for govt jobs and welfare schemes, screaming at the top of their lungs that the govt doesn’t deliver. Pathetic.” One more added, “In India, basic civic sense classes should be introduced from the primary stage. No matter how much the government invests in infrastructure, these filthy pigs will never learn.” About the Delhi–Saharanpur Expressway The Delhi–Saharanpur Expressway is a 210-kilometre-long highway being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It is designed as a 6 to 12-lane expressway and aims to make travel faster and smoother between Delhi and Dehradun. The route passes through several cities, including Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli and Saharanpur, along with parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Once completed, it will reduce travel time and improve connectivity between the national capital and the hill state.
