Series creator Erin Foster revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that it was co-showrunner Jenni Konner‘s idea to put Meester in the show. “It’s because the character was already written into the script without being cast at all,” Foster told THR. “When she said yes, I went back into the script — they didn’t even have any scenes together so I gave them their little scene together and I really wanted him to say, ‘She’s not my type.’ He says that in the episode and it just meant a lot to me to get to say something funny like that because I thought it could become a meme.” What is Leighton Meester’s relationship with Noah and Joanne in Season 2 of Nobody Wants This? Meester’s character went to middle school with Joanne, and as Abby puts it, they were “total LYLAS [Love You Like A Sister]” in the sixth grade. However, Joanne hates her because at a sleepover Abby snuck upstairs and cut the hair off her Felicity American Girl doll. Noah’s first rabbi gig post-Temple Chai is a baby naming for Abby’s daughter, Afternoon, which Joanne attends with him. There, Abby admits that she doesn’t know why she, Joanne and Morgan all stopped hanging out. Though she later acknowledges that she did, in fact, cut the hair of Joanne’s doll. “I’m mortified, but I was like 11. I was so tired,” Abby explains. “You guys wouldn’t let me go to sleep! But I’m sorry. So psycho.” Abby also admits to Joanne and Morgan that she loves their podcast and listens to them every week. “It’s why I hired your rabbi boyfriend,” Abby confesses. “I tell people, ‘I grew up with them.'” Do Adam Brody and Leighton Meester interact on Nobody Wants This Season 2? While Meester’s character did not make an appearance after Episode 5, the door seems to have been left open for a potential return. After admitting that she’s a fan of Joanne and Morgan’s podcast, Justine Lupe‘s character asks if Abby would like to come on the podcast. “No. No. Nobody wants to hear what I have to say,” Abby says. “Or do you think… Do you think they would?” But then backtracks, saying, “No, it’s okay. You know what? Let me just stay a fan. I’ll reach out if I change my mind.” It’s later revealed in Episode 8 that Abby and her husband have split. Bell exclusively told Parade that her character’s relationship with Meester on the show was “so much fun.” The Good Place actress said, “I first got to work with Leighton on Veronica Mars and I remember being so impressed by who she was as an actor, and then I never got to work with her on Gossip Girl, but the fact that she came and played on the show, and she’s so comedically talented and whip smart that she threw me a couple times in the scene, in the best way, like in the way you crave from your scene partner. It was just a delight to have her.” Season 2 of Nobody Wants This is now streaming on Netflix.
