Infantino and US President Donald Trump have appeared together in a public setting numerous times since the US was awarded hosting rights for the 2026 World Cup. "We have a great relationship," Infantino said. "I'm really lucky. I have a great relationship with President Trump, where I consider him a really close friend." Trump missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize last month, which was awarded to Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado. A White House official said the Nobel committee "place politics over peace". Fifa is yet to announce the winner and Infantino refused to say that Trump will be announced as the recipient in December.
