Jets Owner Blames Justin Fields for Disaster Start

The New York Jets are the only team in the National Football League without a win going into Week 8. Among issues on the team, the quarterback position has stood out. Justin Fields looked solid in Week 1, but has struggled overall. He has started six games and missed one due to injury. He has just 845 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. He has 257 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He has also fumbled three times. The Jets' offense ranks 26th in points and yards. The team is dead last in passing yards and 23rd in completion percentage. The team has failed to score 20 points three times this season, and owner Woody Johnson has seemingly seen enough. "If you look at any head coach with a QB like that, you’re going to see similar results across the league ...," Johsnon told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein. "If we could just complete a pass, it would look good." Justin Fields has never been an elite passer in the NFL. However, after Week 1, there was likely some optimism in his ability to lead the Jets offense. His running ability is a real weapon, but it has not been enough. Johnson's dig at the team's ability to move the ball through the air is very indicative of how things have gone since the season opener.
