Vanjae Ramgeet crowned personal watercraft world champion

Vanjae Ramgeet, a Caymanian watercraft rider, has achieved a career-defining moment, conquering the world stage in the International Jet Sports Boating Association World Finals by becoming the 2025 IJSBA Pro Runabout Stock World Champion. This monumental victory in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on 11 Oct. marks the realisation of a lifelong dream for the 29-year-old Caymanian rider, who has been piloting watercraft since the age of 12. “After chasing this dream since I was young, this means the world to me to know the hard work and sacrifices of my family and I have finally paid off,” Ramgeet said. Ramgeet’s victory in the Pro Runabout Stock class of the event was a battle fought across three races, known as motos, with the title going to the rider accumulating the most points. His first moto presented an immediate challenge, as Ramgeet endured an intense collision early in the race with Abdullah Alfadhel, forcing a restart. While Ramgeet powered through to win that first race, he admitted the collision “took a toll on my body in the other two motos.” Despite the collision, he secured the overall world championship by earning first, third, and second place finishes across the three motos. The win reinforces a season of dominance for Ramgeet who clinched the top spot in the Pro Enduro class on the rough seas of Clearwater, Florida, during the P1 AquaX jet-ski racing series in August. Ramgeet’s preparation prior to the victory Ramgeet admitted that leading up to this competition, he didn’t have much time to train “because of how busy life has been”, causing him to have to “rely on my previous training and experience to translate over”. Despite this factor, Ramgeet reflected on his mindset during his races saying, “I just kept telling myself to stay consistent [and not] to make any mistakes”. He shared that surrounding himself with “the right people” also makes it easy to keep his mind clear off the track and therefore makes it easier to focus when on the track. Ramgeet also credited his riding equipment for the victory, saying, “My Deanstrong ski setup played a big role in this [win]. It made it extremely easy being the best ski to touch the racecourse,” he said. This world title claim concludes Ramgeet’s season where he says, “Now we regroup and get ready for the following year, getting skis ready and securing our sponsorships.”
