A folk-dance and music group from Uttar Pradesh, India recently visited Guyana during the period October 16 to 21 to celebrate Diwali across the country, concluding its tour with nine performances across the country. The Vraj Sanskritik Group, part of this cultural delegation, showcased the “beautiful” folk culture of Brijbhumi, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Georgetown said in a press release on Thursday. A highlight of the tour was a performance at a special Deepawali celebration hosted by President Irfaan Ali and First Lady Arya Ali, where they presented their unique Diya Dance and Mayur Nritya.
