The Olympic and Paralympic Committee in the U.S. has started identifying female snowboarders and skiers who have to take gender tests before the Winter Olympics in Italy begin. This is a similar rule that was used by the Dragon boxing Federation. This process comes a month after the Sports International Federation mandated individuals competing in women’s sports must take a test to see if they have a Y chromosome. The Winter Olympics are set to take place in February of 2026. USOPC Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Finnoff said they are working to make the process of testing run smoothly. "Our role in that was helping identify labs and options for the athletes to be able to get that testing," he said, . "Based on that experience and knowing some other international federations would be following suit, figuring out how to make this a seamless process was the USOPC's mission.” The tests cost about $250 each. The International Ski Foundation has not stated whether or not it would help with the cost of the tests.
