Upgraded Tiruchengode government hospital inaugurated in Namakkal

The upgraded Government Hospital at Tiruchengode, developed at a cost of ₹23 crore on par with District Headquarters Hospital, was inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin through video conferencing from Chennai on Wednesday (November 5, 2025). Following this, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian handed over the facility for public use at a function held on the hospital premises in the presence of Collector Durgamoorthi, MP V.S. Matheswaran, MLA E.R. Eswaran, and former MLA K.S. Moorthy. Addressing the reporters, the Minister said the new building constructed on 64,347 sq. ft. has increased bed capacity from 160 to 300. The upgraded hospital features wards for head injury, infectious diseases, post-operative care, paediatrics, ENT, labour and postnatal care, and is equipped with operation theatres, pharmacy, laboratory, X-ray, scan, and CM Health Insurance Scheme units. Facilities worth ₹2.33 crore, including CT scan and C-arm machines, are in use, with 400 CT scans performed monthly. An integrated public health lab at ₹1 crore, a sewage treatment plant at ₹97.9 lakh, and advanced equipment worth ₹9 lakh for the newborn care unit are being established. Across Tamil Nadu, 25 such hospitals are being upgraded at a cost of ₹1,018.85 crore, the Minister said. He also distributed welfare benefits to TB patients and beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.
