An Essequibo man who claimed that he was joking around was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 on a charge of threatening language on Friday. Shaquille Jill pleaded not guilty to the charge when appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. It is alleged that on Wednesday, October 22, at Seven Miles, Essequibo, Jill used threatening language towards Nadira McKenzie. Jill told the magistrate that he has no previous matters and stated that he and McKenzie usually joke around with each other. This caused the magistrate to sternly interject, pointing out to the accused that threats are not jokes. Jill returns to court on November 25.
