The University of Maine women’s soccer team earned a 2-1 win over New Hampshire in the America East Championships quarterfinal round on Sunday afternoon at the New Balance Soccer Complex. The fourth-seeded Black Bears will now travel to face top-seeded Binghamton in the semifinal round at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. The Wildcats scored in the 40th minute of the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Maine scored exactly one minute into the second half, with Jordane Pinette finishing a long cross from Julie Lossius. Twenty minutes later, Gillian Rovers delivered the eventual game-winning goal when she deflected in a ball from Madison Michaud. With the 2-1 victory, the Black Bears advance to the semifinal round of the America East tournament for the fourth consecutive year. UMaine is now 5-7-3 and will travel to face top-seeded Binghamton in an America East Championship semifinal game at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
