When you're on the hunt for the perfect spot to eat , drink and socialise, TripAdvisor is often your best bet - particularly when you're exploring a new city or town. The TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards has compiled a list of eateries that have left diners thoroughly impressed. And the only UK location to make the top 10 isn't in London, as you might have anticipated. Instead, it's The Witchery in Edinburgh - a stunning gothic-style hotel and restaurant that patrons describe as 'out of this world '. With nearly seven thousand glowing five-star reviews and numerous awards to its name, it's no surprise that The Witchery has been recognised as the only UK establishment to make the top 10 fine dining list. This category of the awards highlights places that are 'worth getting on the wait list for' - and The Witchery certainly fits the bill. Nestled just off the Royal Mile in the Scottish capital, with its ancient stone walls, candlelight and gothic interiors, it exudes romance and grandeur, reports the Express . It's globally renowned for offering a truly exceptional dining experience with a menu that showcases the very best of Scotland's fresh, locally sourced produce. Expect seafood from East Lothian and the West Coast, game from the Highlands, and the finest Scottish beef. The Witchery has been showered with praise from visitors, earning it the Best of the Best award based on customer reviews. One chuffed diner gushed: "We had the most amazing romantic lunch 2 course at the Witchery. It was magical with the atmosphere top notch. Make a reservation here well in advance its a wonderful experience. The food and service was fantastic!". Another fan raved: "Absolutely lovely. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the cocktails, the food, the staff, just an excellent experience from start to finish. Highly recommend." However, not everyone was as impressed, with one customer noting: "Food was fine but really small portions for the price. Touristy so guess that is the norm." TripAdvisor explained: "The Travellers' Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It's awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our eight million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone." Meanwhile, across the globe, Fogón Asado in Buenos Aires clinched the top spot on the list. This establishment offers a unique take on the traditional asado steak, cooking each dish right before guests' eyes and boasting an impressive selection of Argentinian wines to complement the meat. Izakaya High Japanese Cuisine clinched the second spot, dishing out traditional Japanese fare with a menu boasting delectable dishes like uramaki, sashimi and tempura.
