UFC star Tom Aspinall addressed hilarious theory his dad is John Fury

Tom Aspinall was forced to deny Tyson Fury's dad John was his biological father in a hilarious interview. The undisputed heavyweight champion returns for the first time since July 2024 on Saturday night when he takes on Ciryl Gane at UFC 321. This weekend's showdown marks the Brit's first title defence as the 265lb king following Jon Jones' retirement from the sport earlier this year. Despite over a year out, Aspinall has been sharpening his skill set alongside father and coach Andy. The pair have been inseparable over the last few decades, and Aspinall Sr has been with his son every step of the way throughout his glittering MMA journey so far. Miraculously, the UFC star was once asked if Andy was his biological father. During an interview with Australian outlet Kayo Sports, reporter Jon Bernard jokingly quizzed the MMA fighter about his 'real dad' - due to the fact that he looks scarily similar to a young John Fury - father of Tyson. "Who is your real father?" Bernard asked. "You're from the same town... you look more like him than any of his other kids." Aspinall was quick to reply, stating: "Well, my dad's been saying it for 32 years and he's not budged, so I think it's Andy Aspinall." The British fighter was then asked if a DNA test needed to be done. "When you put a picture like that... it is uncanny how similar we look," joked Aspinall. "We need to bring my dad in for this." Andy continued the hilarious gag, claiming that a DNA test had previously been done. "He doesn't know my wife, though," he jested. "He's never met her." When asked whether a DNA test needs to be done, Aspinall Sr replied: "It's been done." Surprisingly, Aspinall has sparred with Tyson several times while they were both being trained by the boxer's uncle Peter Fury in the early to mid-2010s. The Wigan brawler has some minor experience in the boxing ring. His sole appearance came in 2017 when he knocked out Tamas Bajzath in the first round. Aspinall's father has expressed his desire for his son to pursue a career in professional boxing later down the line due to the money involved. The fighter himself is interested in the switch, but is largely focusing on his UFC career right now. "Maybe, but it's not something I give a lot of great thought to," he told talkSPORT. "I never think too far in the future anyway — maybe one day I'll do it if I do well and take out the whole division. "I've got some boxing experience, but I'm by no means a world-level boxer. That's why I'm not looking too much into it right now. If the opportunity comes down the line, and I'm in a good place to do it, I'll do it. Right now, that's not of interest." Aspinall's showdown with Gane is set to take place on October 25 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The pair's clash will headline the UFC 321 pay-per-view card. Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almeida will also compete at the event - seemingly for the number one heavyweight contender spot. A light-heavyweight showdown between Aleksandar Rakic and Azamat Murzakanov has also been announced, while Mitch Raposo will take on Azat Maksum. The co-main event sees Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern going head-to-head for the vacant women's strawweight title. The broadcast of the preliminary card will be available for TNT Sports subscribers to watch on TNT Sports 4 and on TNT Sports Box Office for anyone to watch in the UK and Ireland from 5pm (12pm ET / 9am PT / 11am CT). The main card is scheduled to get underway at 7pm UK time (2pm ET / 11am PT / 1pm CT). In the main event, expect Gane to make the walk to the cage first at around 9:30pm UK time (4:30pm ET / 1:30pm PT / 3:30pm) with Aspinall to follow immediately after. The timings of all fights are subject to change and will depend on how long the undercard takes to complete. Fans in the UK and Ireland can watch the main card exclusively live on TNT Sports Box Office at a cost of £19.99.
