There are plenty of college coaches being mentioned as candidates for the Penn State opening, but an NFL coordinator was also recently floated as a possible fit for the job. FOX Sports college football expert Chris “The Bear” Fallica spoke on his podcast last week about who Nittany Lions AD Pat Kraft might go after. According to Fallica, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady could make sense for Penn State, for multiple reasons. “I have an idea out here I’m just going to throw at you. I wouldn’t be surprised if behind the scenes [Terry] Pegula, owner of the Bills, big money guy, is kind of the one footing the bill for most of the buyout,” Fallica said. “And maybe there’s some things going on behind the scenes where it’s like, ‘Hey, I’ll ante up the buyout money, but Joe Brady’s going to be our next head coach.’” Joe Brady is currently the offensive coordinator for the Bills. He was also previously a highly successful college coordinator. Brady was the passing game coordinator at LSU in 2019 when the Tigers won the national championship with Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. He has also served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. As for Terry Pegula, he attended Penn State before going on to purchase the Bills. “I don’t know if that’s going on, but there’s a connection there between Pegula and Penn State and obviously Joe Brady, how great he was at college at LSU and now with the Buffalo Bills -- offensive-minded head coach,” Fallica said. “That’s the biggest thing about Penn State right now is people are so aggravated about the lack of development and the quarterback play on the offensive side of the ball.” While “The Bear” believes Joe Brady to Penn State makes some sense, fellow FOX Sports commentator Bruce Feldman is skeptical that Brady would return to college coaching. “I think he is closer to an NFL head coaching job. I mean he’s got the best quarterback, probably, in football, that he works with. And a good offense,” Feldman said later in the week. “From everything I’ve heard from Joe I think he wants to be in the NFL. I don’t think he wants to be a college head coach.”
