UFC icon Bruce Buffer believes Conor McGregor 's 'electric personality' makes people want to watch him fight regardless of whether they like him or not. The Irishman is one of the most controversial figures in sport and while he was once beloved, it's fair to say that he splits opinion these days and to even say that he has as many fans as critics would be generous. McGregor rose to fame in the UFC, but in recent years, he has spent more time outside the cage, from battling legal issues to launching alcohol companies, the Irishman has a pretty busy schedule. However, the Dubliner has assured fans that he will return to the Octagon in 2026 , and according to announcer Buffer, even McGregor's biggest detractors will be interested in seeing how he gets on inside the Octagon. "Look at the fact where Conor came from, working getting 150 Euros on welfare in his country of Ireland," Buffer told PokerStrategy. "To go on to make the millions that he did in the octagon, to going on to making the hundreds of millions he’s made both in the octagon and his other endeavors, his electric personality. "There’s people out there, people love Conor. People don’t like Conor, right? When you have the combination of the two, you know, what happens? They all want to watch him fight. "He’s got the embrace of both sides of the crowd, being the heel that he can be, being the hero that he can be. Being all that he can be. When Conor walks in, people are going to watch.” Click here to sign up to our sport newsletter, bringing you the top stories and biggest headlines from Ireland and beyond
