The Kembhavi police have arrested two persons, including a woman, over a case registered against 11 people for allegedly assaulting a woman at Dandasollapur tanda in Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district. Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said on Saturday that the complainant, Gangabai wife of one Shankar, a native of Chamnal tanda in Shahapur taluk, lodged a complaint on October 16 that the accused persons assaulted her with the intention to kill her; they accused her of having an illicit relationship with another person. The arrested are Kasturi Bai and Chinna Rathod, who have not been named in the FIR; the other accused are absconding, he said. According to the FIR, that Gangabai is the second wife of Shankar, who remarried after the death of his first wife. The woman has two children. On October 16, when she was at her relative Anil Rathod’s home along with her husband in Dandasollapur tanda, the accused persons, who suspected her fidelity, threw chilli powder at her and tried to assault her with a rod and cut her hair.
