Tua Tagovailoa Receives Brutal Prediction on Dolphins Future

The Miami Dolphins are now in flux, as the organization parted ways with general manager Chris Grier. With Grier out, reports are now coming out regarding the future of the team, including that of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Though the quarterback has a huge cap hit, his future with the Dolphins has received a brutal prediction. The issue the Dolphins have had for many years has always been with the way the roster has been built. A lackluster offensive line is never good, but it can especially derail the progress of a quarterback like Tagovailoa. The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback has incredible accuracy and anticipation, but can only seemingly make great throws when he is not under duress. Those issues have been showcased plenty, especially in 2025. Tagovailoa has showcased some great skills in recent years, like leading the NFL in passing yards in 2023 with 4,624. However, injuries have derailed his progress. Now, with him seemingly regressing, his future with the Dolphins could be in jeopardy. NFL insider Adam Schefter broke down all about where the Dolphins go from parting ways with Grier, and he also revealed that the team could be willing to bench Tagovailoa if he continues to turn the ball over. My understanding is that there is a chance that the Dolphins will replace him at quarterback. He is now playing to keep his job. Leads the league with 11 interceptions. If this continues, I would not be surprised later in the season if they go to one of his backups. Zach Wilson and the impressive rookie Quinn Ewers,” Rapoport said. The team is 2-7, and Tagovailoa’s throwing 11 interceptions does not instill confidence that he should remain behind center. Rapoport also indicated that Mike McDaniel’s job appears to be safe through this season, and it could stretch into 2026. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is a big believer in McDaniel and may believe the poorly built roster was on Grier and not on his head coach. Either way, McDaniel could save his job even more if he made the tough and necessary call to bench Tagovailoa. Of the backup quarterbacks, Wilson would be the logical choice, considering he is a viable veteran. However, the Dolphins may want to see if Ewers can command the offense enough to give him a shot to also start in 2026. If Ewers did start and impress in 2025, Tagovailoa’s future as the team’s starter would be in even bigger danger in 2026. There are a lot of moving parts with the Dolphins right now, and many questions might be answered ahead of the trade deadline, as the team could be sellers to completely reset in 2026. If they are, everyone’s job will be up for a reset, even Tagovailoa’s. For more on the Dolphins and the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
