The injury suffered by former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has reportedly forced significant creative changes in WWE, potentially impacting the return plans for Austin Theory. However, a new report suggests Theory might still be factored into upcoming storylines. Rollins’ injury, believed to have happened at Crown Jewel, led to his former faction, The Vision, turning on him on Raw. According to previous reports, the original plan for Survivor Series: WarGames involved The Vision as the main heel group in the men’s WarGames match, with Austin Theory joining them for the bout. Rollins’ injury and the subsequent implosion of the faction appeared to put Theory’s return back on hold. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match However, a positive update has emerged. According to WrestleVotes, despite the creative modifications, there are still influential voices within WWE pushing to keep Theory involved in significant plans. The WWE insider reported that there remains a push from certain individuals to bring Theory back to television in a meaningful way soon. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images) Theory’s career trajectory has seen highs and lows. After significant pushes in 2022 and 2023, including winning Money in the Bank and the United States Championship (via the first-ever cash-in for that title), his momentum shifted. He defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39 but later transitioned into a tag team role with Grayson Waller as A-Town Down Under. Despite winning the WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania XL, Theory’s presence diminished throughout 2024 and 2025. He reportedly suffered an injury over the summer, and his team with Waller quietly disbanded. His last match was a loss on WWE Main Event in July, one of only four singles matches he’s had this year. It was also reported in August that Theory had been removed from WWE’s internal roster list, raising questions about his status. With the World Heavyweight Championship now vacant and a power vacuum emerging on Raw following The Vision’s breakup, Austin Theory’s potential return could add another dynamic element. While a Battle Royal is set for next week’s Raw to determine one contender for the vacant title, and CM Punk awaits the winner at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the continued internal support for Theory suggests he could soon be reinserted into the evolving main event picture.
