The NBA continues to palpitate in response to the poker and props betting scandal that rocked the association almost two weeks ago. Yet this week, the market pain is shared with the hapless Miami Dolphins, who lost 24-6 to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. With the Dolphins falling to 2-7, owner Stephen Ross announced on Friday a mutual parting of the ways with long-time general manager Chris Grier. Grier had been with the Miami franchise for 26 years and was among the longest-tenured GMs in the 32-team league. The question is how much rope does head coach Mike McDaniel have before he joins Grier on the outside looking in? Reports that McDaniel will not be ousted this season are circulating with the NFL trade deadline just days away, but in this business, they fall into the category of “never say never” as the once-proud and record-setting Dolphins reel out of control well outside of the playoff bubble.
