Sports day ‘Elitia’ Mount Hilton Public School, Old Courtallam celebrated its sixth annual sports day ‘Elitia’ with exuberant zeal and camaraderie. The event began with March past by students of all houses such as diamond, topaz, sapphire, ruby and emerald. The winners of the event were honoured by R. Rajmohan, District Forest Officer, Tenkasi, who attended the event as chief guest. R.B.K. Samuel, Chartered Accountant, was the guest of honour at the event. R.J.V. Bell, secretary of the school and Grace Kasthuri Bell, director of the school were also present. The overall champions shield was won by Topaz house. Young Minds Chess Tournament-2025 A state level Young Minds Chess Tournament-2025 was conducted at PET Engineering College, Valliyoor in association with Tirunelveli district chess development association. In the tournament, students from various colleges and schools participated in the competition. The competition was held for students catering to different levels from age 6 to 25 years. The tournament began with the inaugural ceremony presided over by S. Mohammed Farook, Management Trustee, Mohammed Abdul Razak, Treasurer, Ponperumal, Chief Arbiter, K. Madhan Kumar, Principal and M. Murukaananth, Secretary, Tirunelveli Chess Association. PRAJNA-2025 Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Tirunelveli organised PRAJNA-2025, a science expo to create an engaging and interactive journey through the marvels of science. S. Muthu Kumar, District Science Officer, Tirunelveli presided over the event. In his address, he emphasised that the essence of science lies in visionary outlook and urged the students to uphold the theory of Indian identity while striving to bring glory to the nation. The exhibition featured a wide range of student models including household products created from water hyacinth fibre, eco-friendly building and bridges, flexible waste management system and others. 11th state-level mega quiz competition Eleventh state-level mega quiz competition for higher secondary students held at National Engineering College in Kovilpatti. Continuing the tradition for the 11th consecutive year, the event drew enthusiastic participation from 268 students forming 134 teams, representing schools across Tamil Nadu following state board, CBSE and ICSE curriculum. The inaugural session was presided over by S. Shanmugavel, Director of the College. The quiz conductor of the competition was Sumanth C Raman. The first prize of Rs 25,000 and a certificate was awarded to students K. Nitish Anand and M. Sudharshan of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal Golden Jubilee Matric Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli. Second prize of Rs 15,000 and a certificate was won by B. Kaviya Shree and S. Swetha from Subbaih Vidyalayam Girls Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi and third prize of Rs 10,000 and a certificate was bagged by P. Sethupathy and R. Mugundan of Hayagrivas International School (CBSE), Sivakasi. State-level winner K.L. Sanju Sri Lakshmi, a student of Bharath Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ilanji achieves a state-level milestone in science seminar. The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bengaluru has organised a national science seminar for school students at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School in Salem. District level winners from various schools across Tamil Nadu participated in the competition. K.L. Sanju Sri Lakshmi, presented her paper on the topic “The Quantum Era Begins-Possibilities and Challenges” and won first place at the state level, marking a remarkable achievement. She has been selected to represent Tamil Nadu in the upcoming national level competition to be held in Bengaluru. M. Kabeer, Chief Educational Officer, Salem presented the certificate to K.L. Sanju Sri Lakshmi at the event.
