Derek Chisora gives brutally honest answer to Fabio Wardley question

Derek Chisora has advised Fabio Wardley to avoid a fight with Oleksandr Usyk and instead chase a showdown with Daniel Dubois . Wardley produced a career-defining performance this past weekend after knocking out former world champion Joseph Parker at the O2 Arena - despite being down on two of the three judges' scorecards prior to the 11th round stoppage. The WBO had ordered the Kiwi heavyweight to take on Usyk - the two-time undisputed heavyweight champion - in July, but ended up putting his mandatory challenger status on the line against Wardley. After snatching Parker's interim title, Wardley has earned himself a shot at the Ukrainian behemoth. However, Chisora has advised his good friend to take some time. The experienced boxer knows both men well, having sparred Wardley and gone the full 12 rounds with Usyk. Speaking to BoxNation just moments after the contest on Saturday night, Chisora said. “I said it. I knew that this f***ing kid is tough as nails. "I spar him and I hit him and he keeps coming back. Fabio Wardley did amazing for himself and his family and I f***ing called it from day one. Fabio wins it.” Chisora, 41, was then asked if he believes Wardley will beat Usyk - to which he replied: “No, he won’t beat Usyk, Take some time. Have a fight with Daniel [Dubois].” Despite Chisora's remarks, Wardley is hoping that his next fight will come agains Usyk. Speaking of a potential showdown, the Ipswich heavyweight told Sky Sports : "It's very simple. I hope he's a man of his word and it comes off and we get the fight. I know it was mandated by the WBO and I know him, or his team at least, came out not too long ago to say, look, they were keeping an eye on the fight and they were happy to take on the winner." He added: "I believe him to be a man of his word as well. So, 2026, hopefully we'll see Usyk. That would be huge." Promoter Frank Warren is already eyeing looking at March as a potential date for the clash. "I think it will be some time in March. I would love it to be in the UK and there are only two places for it and where it can happen. That will be in Riyadh or here," he said. "That will sell out Wembley. You know what you are getting with Usyk and you know what you are getting with Fabio. It is going to be exciting. This fella has got to be one of the most exciting fighters in the world ." Joshua Buatsi and Zach Parker will clash on Saturday, November 1 in Manchester. The undercard is anticipated to commence at approximately 6pm UK time (1pm ET / 10am PT / 12pm CT). For the headline encounter, Parker will probably make his ring walk first at 10pm BST (5pm ET / 2pm PT / 4pm CT) with Buatsi expected to follow straight afterwards. The entire spectacle will be broadcast live on DAZN. This popular streaming service can be accessed as an additional subscription on television sets. It's also available for live streaming via the official website or through the downloadable application. A DAZN membership costs £119.99 annually or £14.99 monthly, alternatively £24.99 on a flexible arrangement that permits cancellation at any time.
