In his message, the President described Oba Akiolu as a steadfast custodian of the illustrious Lagos heritage, whose reign has upheld the dignity of the Iga Idunganran throne while deepening the bond between the traditional institution and the modern state. He lauded Oba Akiolu’s unrelenting advocacy for equity, justice, and unity among all Lagosians, noting that under Oba Akiolu’s two-decade reign, Lagos has continued to flourish as a centre of enterprise, coexistence, excellence and progress for Nigeria and Africa. The President also paid tribute to the monarch’s distinguished service to the nation in his earlier years as a senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force, where he exemplified discipline and integrity before ascending the throne. He praised His Majesty’s unwavering counsel to governments and leaders over the years, his wisdom in fostering development, and his tireless commitment to the well-being of his people. He prayed that Allah will continue to bless the Oba of Lagos with long life, sound health, and renewed strength, so that his reign may continue to be a source of pride to the people of Lagos and the entire nation. He saluted Alhaja Subair for her life of service, faith, and impact as a distinguished Lagosian, a former magistrate, public administrator, and women’s leader whose dedication to community upliftment has spanned decades. President Tinubu recalled her trailblazing roles across public institutions, including the Lagos Executive Development Board, the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC), and the Lagos Judiciary, where she served with distinction. He also noted her remarkable contributions as President of the National Council of Women’s Societies (Ikeja Chapter) and her consistent advocacy for women’s empowerment, education, and social justice. He extolled Alhaja Subair’s enduring commitment to public good and her service to Islam as Somori Adinni of Okepopo Central Mosque and Iya Sunnah of Olorunsogo Mosque, Lagos. President Tinubu joined family, friends, and associates in celebrating her life of purpose and grace, praying that Allah continues to strengthen her in good health, happiness, and divine peace.
