A man has been jailed for over three years after being charged with a number of human trafficking and drug offences . John Townsley pled guilty to the offences at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, October 27. The charges ranged from November 2023 to February 2024 at various addresses across the Granite City. The 41-year-old has been locked up for a total of 39 months. Detective Inspector Andrew Machray of Police Scotland said: "We work closely with our partners, not just locally but nationally to raise public awareness to ensure that victims are given the support they need. “Drugs cause misery in our communities and those who import, sell and supply will take any opportunity to exploit vulnerable people. "Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the activities of organised crime groups and making Scotland a hostile environment them to operate." A Police Scotland statement read: "A man has been jailed for 39 months for human trafficking and drug offences. "John Townsley, 41, pled guilty at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, 27 October, 2025 to the charges which ranged from November 2023 to February 2024 at various addresses in Aberdeen."
