Threeland FC have staged a comeback to defeat Pele 2-1 in their Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) Ligue 1 championship match at Korman Stadium yesterday. Pele took the lead in the first half, with Tensely Leo scoring before the break. However, after halftime, Threeland showed great resilience, strengthening their defense and denying Pele any further goals. Rodriguez Vuti found the equalizer, and Joan scored the winning goal shortly after to secure the 2-1 victory. This marks Threeland’s second win in the PVFA season. Their first win came against AS Tewalu on Day 2 of the competition. Captain Roderick Tari, expressed his gratitude to God for the victory and thanked the fans for their unwavering support. “After losing our first game to Lakotau, we kept our heads up, trained harder, and managed to beat AS Tewalu and Pele,” said Tari. With the win, the boys from Penama Province now have 6 points and a +1 goal difference, placing them second in Pool B, just behind Lakotau, who also have 6 points but a +2 goal difference. Pele, with 4 points, drops to fourth place. In other Pool B action, bottom-placed Seveners United will face AS Tewalu tomorrow, while Lakotau takes on Shepherds United on Saturday. A win for United would push them to the top of the table with 7 points, while a loss or draw would see them stay in their current position. Lakotau only needs a draw to remain at the top of Pool B. Pool A action continues today where Amical will play Shalom, while Taut Iamak faces Varona.
