That it comes down to two Bledisloe Cup matches between neighboring old foes New Zealand and Australia to be potential champions only adds to the allure. New Zealand will be desperate to banish memories of their record 43-10 loss to South Africa last time out two weeks ago. Also on the line for Scott Robertson's side is their 31-year, 51-Test undefeated record at Eden Park, their Auckland fortress where Australia haven't tasted victory since 1986. Half-backs Cam Roigard and Cortez Ratima are fit again, with the former set to start, but the All Black must do without injured captain Scott Barrett in the second row. Australia top the table by a point from South Africa and will hope to continue their much-improved recent form across the Tasman Sea. One area Joe Schmidt's side must do better, though, is first-half displays – yes, their comebacks are now legendary after the interval but in two matches against Argentina, they trailed big at half-time and cannot afford a repeat against the Kiwis. James O'Connor has answered a distress call to fly halfway round the world from France to start at fly half, but talismanic back rower Rob Valetini will miss out because of his troublesome calf. Crucial will be the Wallabies keeping the penalty count down – conceding 13 of them cost dearly against Argentina. Either way, this will be a stellar contest that could go a long way to deciding the outcome of the Rugby Championship 2025.
