After their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend, Manchester United currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League, enjoying their longest undefeated run of Ruben Amorim’s campaign. Whilst United’s winning streak came to an end after beating Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton, a win or draw over Tottenham Hotspur this weekend would see Ruben Amorim go five games unbeaten. With a draw over Spurs, dependent on other results, The Red Devils could climb as high as third place, with second place on offer for a win. However, Amorim’s men failed to beat Spurs in any of their clashes last season, with their most memorable tie being the Europa League final, which saw United’s hopes of Champions League football go after a 1-0 loss. Now, United are looking to fight back and get revenge, with a major boost coming at the expense of one of Thomas Frank’s men. Taking to the official Tottenham Hotspur website, the London-based side have confirmed that Lucas Bergvall is set to miss the next two games, meaning he will not be able to play against Manchester United or FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. The announcement read: “Thomas Frank confirmed that Lucas Bergvall will miss our next two matches as we follow protocol after his concussion against Chelsea on Saturday.” The statement continued to clarify: “That means the midfielder will have to sit out our UEFA Champions League MD4 match against FC Copenhagen at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening (8pm UK), plus the Premier League clash against Manchester United back in N17 on Saturday (12.30pm UK).” Explainin the situation further, Thomas Frank commented: “Lucas got a concussion (against Chelsea), which was probably pretty obvious from the footage.” He continued: “Big praise to the medical team, because it’s a tricky situation to be in when it’s two minutes into a game and everything is on it. So, well done to them because it’s the player’s health that’s the most important thing. “Djed [Djed Spence] and Mo [Mohamed Kudus] got a knock. They could and should be available for tomorrow.”
