Actor George Clooney is more than open to having an on-screen reunion with his former ER castmate, Noah Wyle. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight in November 2025, Clooney, who played ER character Dr. Doug Ross, said he’s interested in joining the cast of Wyle’s acclaimed HBO Max medical drama, The Pitt, which premiered in January 2025. “I’d do that in a heartbeat,” said Clooney in the Entertainment Tonight interview. He clarified that he hasn’t spoken about possibly joining The Pitt to Wyle, who not only stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, but is also one of the show’s executive producers and writers. “I don’t want to interrupt, but I am deeply proud of him, if I’m allowed to be proud of him, because what a beautiful show it is and what a great success it has been. And what a fun thing to have him kind of continuing on in a tradition,” said Clooney in reference to Wyle’s run as Dr. John Carter on ER, which ended after 15 seasons in 2009. This isn’t the first time Clooney has publicly praised Wyle and The Pitt. In a June 2025 interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Clooney described The Pitt as “wonderful.” In addition, the Up in the Air star said that he and Wyle have “been really dear friends” since filming the 1994 pilot of ER. “He is just the most honorable, talented young man. I get to say that because I’m an old man. And I cannot be happier for his success on this show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it,” said Clooney during the Late Night With Seth Meyers interview. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight in March 2025, Wyle said that he and Clooney “do keep in touch.” He also teased that he would be up to reunite with his former ER co-star on screen. “The chance to work together again is something we always look forward to,” said Wyle in the Entertainment Tonight interview.
