Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Launches International Venture With Mediawan, Led by Mona and Tanya Qureshi

LuckyChap, the powerhouse production company behind Barbie, Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, is expanding overseas with the launch of LuckyChap International, a new London-based film and television venture created in partnership with European studio Mediawan Group. The joint company, officially launching in January 2026, will be led by executives Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi, who have been appointed co-managing directors of international. The sisters will oversee creative and day-to-day operations across the U.K. and Europe, producing international film and television projects that continue LuckyChap’s creator-driven ethos. Mona Qureshi joins after serving as a director of scripted series at Netflix U.K., where she led titles including Adolescence (Plan B – Mediawan), Scott Frank’s Dept Q and Lena Dunham’s Too Much. Tanya Qureshi comes from the BBC, where she served as commissioning editor in drama and previously as head of comedy, overseeing projects such as Riot Women, Waiting for the Out, Am I Being Unreasonable? and Amandaland. “We’ve always shared a deep love of storytelling, so getting to build something together at LuckyChap feels like a dream,” said the Qureshis in a joint statement. “As sisters, we’ve cheered each other on through our individual careers, and now we get to combine everything we’ve learned to grow this next chapter – literally and figuratively – side by side. The team at LuckyChap are passionate champions of distinctive voices and bold ideas, and we are thrilled to be part of expanding that mission internationally. It’s rare to find a company that leads with such heart and mischief – we can’t wait to join their ranks and continue to build in that spirit.” LuckyChap partners, which include Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Milan Popelka, added: “Launching LuckyChap into the U.K. and Europe has been a goal of ours for a long time and we feel we’ve landed upon the perfect alchemy with this team. To combine Mediawan’s passion for nurturing great storytelling and their far-reaching strategic capabilities, with the incredible creative leadership of Mona and Tanya Qureshi, instinctively feels like an undeniable way to catapult this journey. Every aspect of this international partnership feels aligned creatively, culturally, and operationally, driving forward LuckyChap’s core mission of empowering storytellers in both creative and strategic ways. Mona and Tanya’s rich and storied experience in this industry speaks for itself and we couldn’t be more excited to work with them, and our friends at Mediawan, in building something special.” Pierre-Antoine Capton, Mediawan chairman and co-founder, said: “We are thrilled to support LuckyChap’s talented teams in this new and pivotal step of their development. At Mediawan’s, since our creation, our mission has always been to champion creative excellence and outstanding stories from the best talents around the world. This partnership perfectly embodies our ambitions for global growth, especially throught the creation of strategic and innovative collaborations. Their presence in the U.K., which is a true bridge between the creative industries of America and Europe, under the leadership of the acclaimed duo Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi, will open up new opportunities for us to keep producing premium content and sharing it with a wide audience. As a leading studio in Europe, we are excited to be able to offer LuckyChap our expertise and know-how in order to support their growth and creativity.” LuckyChap retains majority ownership and control of the new entity, which will work closely with the company’s existing U.S. teams while tapping into the creative and production advantages of the U.K. and Europe, the company says. The venture further extends LuckyChap’s global footprint following the record-breaking success of Barbie and a slate that includes Megan Park’s Sterling Point and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, due from Warner Bros. in 2026. The move also strengthens LuckyChap’s ties to Mediawan, the fast-expanding European studio founded in France by Capton, Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse. Over the past several years, Mediawan has built a global network of more than 80 production labels across 14 countries, including Slow Horses producer See-Saw Films and Call My Agent! producer Mon Voisin, and in 2023 it took a significant stake in Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, further establishing itself as a major player in prestige film and TV.
