Thief caught stealing beer from Midland supermarket twice in 10 minutes

A beer-loving burglar was nabbed after he was caught on camera nicking crates of booze from a supermarket - and then returning for more just ten minutes later. Laighton Thompson, 28, was spotted on CCTV smashing a glass door panel at Heron Foods in St Ann's, Nottingham. The footage shows him swiping two crates of beer from the shelves before legging it from the shop around 12.40am on Saturday (1/11). But just ten minutes later, Thompson returned with a bottle of beer in his hand and nicked another two boxes of booze. Thompson, of Radford, Notts. admitted burglary when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday (3/11). He was handed a six-week prison term, suspended for 12 months. He was also slapped with a nine-month alcohol treatment requirement, and ordered to cough up £154 in compensation. PC Oliver Grosvenor said: "This was fantastic teamwork involving different police teams which resulted in a burglar being caught red-handed. "The last thing any local business needs is to be targeted by burglars."
