The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Cast: Every Confirmed Actor & Character

Illumination and Nintendo's sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie has assembled another great collection of actors, turning The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's cast into an A-list ensemble as they play iconic video game characters. The second installment in the animated Mario-focused film franchise is adapting Nintendo's 2007 megahit game that took the plumber to outer space. The movie is also pulling from Nintendo's 2010 video game sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, with the inclusion of Yoshi, whose role has been confirmed. And after utilizing all sorts of Nintendo characters in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the movie follow-up has brought back many of the biggest characters, while adding key new additions from the games. Here's every confirmed character in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, along with who is voicing them. Chris Pratt as Mario After his initial casting divided the internet, Chris Pratt returns as Mario for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While a different voice for him than people are accustomed to, Pratt proved to be a solid choice to voice the iconic character. He's best known for playing Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy/Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pratt's other roles include leading the Jurassic World trilogy, playing Andy on Parks and Recreation, and headlining Prime Video's The Terminal List series. He's also been heard voicing Garfield, expanding his reach as the voice of iconic pop culture characters. Mario's role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will focus on him traversing the galaxy to help Rosalina and defeat Bowser and Bowser Jr. Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach Anya Taylor-Joy is back as the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, with Princess Peach positioned for a key role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie once more. The actress has no shortage of memorable roles beyond the Nintendo franchise, with Netflix's chess series The Queen's Gambit being a huge breakout for her. Otherwise, she's been seen playing Furiosa in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, leading the twisty thriller The Menu, starring in Robert Eggers' The Witch, and working with M. Night Shyamalan in Split and Glass. She even made a cameo in Dune: Part Two and will reprise her role as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three. Similarly to how The Super Mario Bros. Movie revamped Peach's role, the sequel could be doing something similar as she's shown going into space on her own, suggesting that being captured by Bowser and Mario saving her is not the key motivation here. Charlie Day as Luigi Mario's brother, Luigi, is back too in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with Charlie Day returning to voice him. The actor proved to be an excellent choice to play the more fearful brother, injecting The Super Mario Bros. Movie with some comedy, as Day has been known to do throughout his career. He is undoubtedly best known for his long-running major role on the hit series It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. While Day has had memorable live-action performances in the Pacific Rim and Horrible Bosses franchises, his voice work in The Lego Movie series is also hilarious. Luigi returns in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie to work alongside his brother once more, this time on a mission to save the galaxy. Jack Black as Bowser Even after being shrunk down in The Super Mario Bros. Movie's ending, Bowser is another familiar face to see in the sequel. Jack Black's surprisingly comedic portrayal of the iconic villain was a great element of the first film, so it was inevitable that he'd be back for what comes next. Black is a beloved performer for many thanks to roles in School of Rock, Tropic Thunder, the Jumanji franchise, and his most recent hit, A Minecraft Movie. He's also synonymous with the Kung Fu Panda franchise as the voice of Po. Bowser will resume his role as a villain in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, this time working alongside his son after being freed from the tiny prison Mario and Luigi have kept him in. Brie Larson as Rosalina A major new addition to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's cast, Brie Larson joins the ensemble to play Rosalina. The Academy Award-winning actress from 2016's Room has made a big splash previously playing Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences may also be familiar with Larson thanks to her performances in dramas like Short Term 12 and Just Mercy, action films in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Kong: Skull Island, and Fast X, and TV shows like Apple's Lessons in Chemistry. Rosalina is a central figure in the Super Mario Galaxy video games, as she lives in the Comet Observatory and recruits Mario to retrieve the Power Stars that keep it operational. Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr. is another major new character in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The son of Bowser makes his grand debut to save his father, unleashing their fury upon the cosmos after. Illumination recruited Benny Safdie to voice Bowser Jr. in the movie. While he's a director who has made films like Uncut Gems and The Smashing Machine, he's also branched out more into acting, taking on roles in Oppenheimer, Happy Gilmore 2, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad Toad is also returning for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with veteran comedian Keegan-Michael Key voicing him once more. The vocal chameleon has previously lent his voice to animated movies like Transformers One, Migration, Toy Story 4, and the Hotel Transylvania franchise. Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek Bowser's trusted advisor Kamek will also be seen in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The Magikoopa will once again be voiced by legendary voice actor Kevin Michael Richardson, who portrayed Captain Gantu in the animated Lilo & Stitch. He's also played multiple characters across animated Marvel and DC productions, and has over 600 credits to his name. Yoshi (No Known Cast Member) The Super Mario Bros. Movie's post-credits scene set up Yoshi to appear in the sequel, and it is confirmed that the green dinosaur will be featured in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. He has not yet been shown in any of the film's official trailers, nor has a cast member been confirmed.
