The post, shared by a page called Stories About US, featured a doctored photo of Chan in a hospital bed and a fabricated caption mourning his “passing,” even attributing fake quotes to his wife, Joan Lin. “Today, the most beloved person in world cinema, all of our hearts, has passed away, a worthy actor, a great Kung Fu master, the man with the funny laugh, Jackie Chan,” the post read. In reality, the 71-year-old Karate Kid and Rush Hour actor, born Fang Shilong, is alive and well. He recently performed his song “Country” at the International Poetry and Wine Culture Conference in Luzhou, China, on November 2, 2025, where he also received the prestigious 1573 International Poetry Prize. Chan continues to work on new film projects, including The Shadow’s Edge, which topped the China box office in August 2025. The rumor caused widespread confusion across social media but was quickly debunked. It’s just the latest in a long-running cycle of false death hoaxes surrounding Chan that resurface nearly every year despite repeated denials from his representatives. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express frustration, with one writing, “Had to come to Twitter because Facebook is spreading a lie that Jackie Chan passed away,” while another joked, “I hate Facebook! I’m half asleep and see a post saying Jackie Chan died — I literally have one eye open.”
