After a steady start, the Telugu drama saw a sharp rise on Day 2 — proof that strong word-of-mouth can still draw crowds. As per early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected around Rs 1.3 crore on Friday (Day 1) and climbed to Rs 2.5 crore on Saturday (Day 2) — a jump of over 92%. This strong weekend momentum signals that The Girlfriend is steadily building its base through glowing reviews and audience appreciation. The film’s overall occupancy rate stood at 30.79%, with stronger footfall as the day progressed. Morning shows reported 17.32%, which grew steadily to 33.44% in the afternoon, before peaking during the evening (33.84%) and night shows (38.55%). The weekend numbers are now expected to give it a healthy total as family audiences continue to turn up. Rashmika’s portrayal of Bhooma has been widely appreciated for its vulnerability and depth, prompting the actress to share an emotional note with fans.
