Harrods has informed some e-commerce customers that their personal data, specifically names and contact details, may have been compromised in an IT systems breach. The breach originated from one of Harrods' third-party providers, but the luxury department store confirmed that account passwords and payment details were not affected. Harrods stated that this incident is an isolated event and is unconnected to a suspected cyber attack it experienced in May. The May incident led to Harrods restricting internet access across its sites, and four individuals were later arrested in connection with cyber attacks on Harrods, Marks & Spencer, and Co-op. The UK is now the third most targeted country globally for malware, with over 100 million cyber attacks recorded in the previous three months, affecting other major companies like Jaguar Land Rover.
