I’m all for athletes fighting, but this is just ridiculous. In Texas, a junior varsity high school football player will most likely end up suspended for the rest of the year following a skirmish in the middle of the game that reached peak violence. And that’s because he put his opponent in the hospital due to an act that is straight up deserving of an assault with a deadly weapon charge. Located nowhere around the play, both of the student-athletes were spotted on camera having a good ol’ fashioned wrestling match on the field, eventually escalating to punches and kicks being tossed. Flags were thrown on the players, and then … it happened. (RELATED: Thuggish Ruggish Brawl Breaks Out During Rap Concert At College Football Game) The player who suits up for La Vernia puts the A.C. Jones student-athlete to the ground in the middle of action, and then proceeds to take off his opponent’s helmet. From there, the La Vernia player blasts him in the face with it, running back to the sideline like a complete coward after the fact. Nicole Voelkel, the mother of the A.C. Jones student-athlete, posted video of the scene on Facebook. You can watch the insanity here. A suspension isn’t enough for this buffoonery.
