Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth and women empowerment with a fresh donation of ₦100,000 each to 203 women entrepreneurs in the state. Tambuwal made the announcement on Saturday at the YHK Vibrant Fair, a trade exhibition held at K7 Mall, Sokoto, where young women showcased locally made fashion pieces, food products, crafts, and beauty accessories. The fair brought together 203 small business owners, many of whom were beneficiaries of Tambuwal’s COVID-19 economic recovery grant during his tenure as governor. Fair organiser Yasmin Hassan Kangiwa said the women’s growing success was rooted in the empowerment initiative launched by Tambuwal years ago. “We owe our entrepreneurial success to your bold decision to empower us back then,” Kangiwa said. “That support laid the foundation for our businesses to thrive.” Participants lauded the former governor for investing in their dreams, describing him as a consistent supporter of women-led businesses. In his remarks, Tambuwal commended the exhibitors for their creativity and resilience, saying their progress proved that empowerment programs could transform lives. “I am proud of your determination and achievements,” he said. “This ₦100,000 support is to help you grow even stronger—your success is Sokoto’s success.” The gesture, totaling ₦20.3 million, reinforces Tambuwal’s reputation as one of Sokoto’s strongest advocates of inclusive economic growth through women and youth empowerment.
