Sydney Sweeney chastised by TV star after defending choice to go braless in see-through dress

All eyes were on Sydney Sweeney this week after the star wore a revealing silver dress to Variety's Power of Women event. But after the star defended her decision, just days later, American conservative media personality Megyn Kelly turned on actress. The Trump supporter and former Fox News anchor branded Sydney, 28, an 'oversharer', claiming her choice of outfit gave too much away. Speaking on her Megyn Kelly Show podcast on Thursday, she spoke about the Christian Cowan corset gown, which Sweeney decided to wear without a bra. Kelly, 54, declared: "I object to this... I disapprove of the dress because it's completely see-through." Sweeney, who told the media she wanted to "inspire other women to be confident" with her attire, was forced to defend what she wore. But Kelly chose to be critical of the actress, adding: "She overshares and then takes away the thing that is the sexiest, which is every guy's hope to be the one who actually sees them for real." Although she still maintains she is a fan of the Euphoria star, claiming she believes she was misled by a stylist. Kelly concluded: "I guarantee you, somebody brought the dress to her and was like, ‘Now we’ll take it next level’. And she trusted the wrong person, and before you knew it, we had all seen it." The see-through gown stunned fans as Sydney continued her reputation for wearing bold fashion choices. She attended the Power of Women event at The Beverley Hills Hotel, wowing fans with a cap-sleeved dress. The dress was made all the more risque after Sydney decided to go braless for the event, but still looked the picture of Hollywood glamour. She spoke alongside other female stars on the evening, which was partnered with women's health organisation the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Sydney addressed the criticism she tends to receive during an interview with Variety ahead of the event. The actress said: "I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t. "When people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’" "I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn’t have to apologise or hide or cover up in any room." It's not the first time outspoken Megyn Kelly has publicly slated women for their choices. Previously, she ranted about Kim Kardashian , branding the reality TV star's parenting choices "gross". Speaking on her podcast in 2023, she said: "I'm not spending any time on Kim Kardashian. I can't do it." Despite her announcement, she went on to discuss Kim's attendance at the Met Gala . She continued: "She brought her nine-year-old daughter not with her to the gala but like in the car to watch her walk off. "Like, is that what you want your daughter to see you doing? You want her to see you, like, wearing basically next to nothing parading into the Met Gala that's what you're proud of? Okay. Fine." Then, speaking of her own appearance at the most sought after event on the fashion calendar, she added: "I went to the Met Gala, I've been to these events. I don't bring my kids, who brings their kids to go watch them walk the red carpet? I'm sorry but it's gross."
