Swan Care Home opens in New Waltham with aim to be 'home away from home'

A small family run care home has opened in New Waltham and residents have started moving in. Swan Care Home aims to provide the highest quality of care while helping residents maintain as much independence as possible. Its vision is to create a welcoming, safe and fulfilling environment where residents enjoy a high quality of life with dignity, respect and choice. Earlier this week, Saima Saddiq, director and nominated individual director, said: "We got our registration through at the end of March 2025 and then appointed a manager. Our first resident Lilian has joined us today with the second joining us Friday, it's very exciting. It's been a big project. We had to re-do everything from top to bottom. "We brought the building in 2021 and had so much to do, from plastering to new carpets, new furniture, new windows, new front area. We've got a lounge, a dining room, an activity room and in Spring we will start working on the courtyard and a nice seating area. "I have been doing care work for just over 20 years. I've worked in care homes, day centres, I've also done teaching. It was my dad's ambition to have his own care home so he's the owner. Dad has put a lot of hard work into this - his background is property development. "Our care home is a smaller one which gives a home away from home environment, like they are in their own homes. We can take respite as well as residential care." Lilian, 99 was the first resident to arrive and had only moved in a couple of hours prior to Grimsby Telegraph's visit. She said: "It's a big thing moving in, I'm 99 and lasted this long on my own. "I've had a cup of tea and I asked for a boiled egg which I've just had. It's beautiful now, my husband was here before he died and before they took it over. My daughters have been with me all morning unpacking my things for me. "It will be nice to get to know people as more residents arrive - up to now it's been first class."
