“We need that place. Surrey is a big city,” Mayor Brenda Locke said in a recent interview with Postmedia News. “Our (residents) don’t want to go to Vancouver, they don’t want to go to Abbotsford, they want their own space. We have had so many large teams and big groups come to us and say, ‘We need convention space, where’s yours?’ We don’t have it.”
