Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse have won over an army of fans in the past seven years with their cosy BBC2 series Gone Fishing. While it's a lovely watch and the comedy legends do a modicom of fishing, it's the conversations, banter and the stretching of their unmistakable funny bones that have won over the viewers. The eighth series has now debuted on iPlayer, and airs weekly on BBC 2, Sunday nights, and the episodes see the pair visit more beautiful spots around the UK, with two episodes dedicated to Welsh locations that are absolutely stunning. Episode two sees Rhondda-born Paul, of The Fast Show, Harry Enfield and Friends and national treasure, Bob - from The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Shooting Stars and this year's unmissable Last One Laughing, visit the rivers Towy and Cothi in Carmarthenshire searching for sea trout. Then in episode five they venture on a long road trip to Ceredigion, staying in converted railway carriage Wendy on the Aberporth clifftops. More on Wendy, here. They also embark on an hilarious boat trip from Aberystwyth to fish out to sea and hopefully see some sharks and snag some seabass. While Bob and Paul (and cute terrier Ted) are undoubtedly the stars of the series, the Welsh scenery steals the show in these episodes of Gone Fishing. From the Ceredigion cliffs looking out over the Irish Sea, to the sunset over cool, calm waters of Carmarthenshire's rivers, Gone Fishing has captured the stellar natural beauty of Wales. Mortimer & Whitehouse:Gone Fishing is streaming all series, including the new, eighth season, on iPlayer, now.
