Strictly fans fear star is being 'set up to fail' with 'awful' Halloween song choice

Strictly fans are worried for George Clarke 's future on the show ahead of Halloween Week, as the TikTok star is given another 'awful choice' of song to dance to. George has become a fan favourite on the show and many of his own fans have started watching Strictly to see him dance every week. However, some have become worried by a pattern emerging in the songs he's been given to dance to. The TikToker has danced to several songs that became famous on the video app, and been given many tracks that lean more towards silly, jokey dances rather than serious ones, such as Soda Pop from K-Pop Demon Hunters. Ahead of Halloween Week, the show has announced that George and his partner, Alexis Warr, will be dancing to Apple by Charli XCX , which exploded in popularity on TikTok last summer. His fans flocked to social media, fearing the preference for trendy 'TikTok' songs was setting him up for failure on the show. "Is Strictly setting George up to fail?" one asked. "I love Charli XCX but a cha cha to Apple is such an awful choice?" Other fans noticed that George has been sadled with "TikTok trends" rather than proper dances. "I just wish they'd stop giving George tik tok trends and give him better songs," they said. Another asked: "Do the producers hate him and want him out???" And a third wondered if Strictly was "trying to sabotage George". One fan directly addressed the show's producers and asked: "Can we stop giving George the 'young' choices, it's clear it's only for a certain audience appeal and not to actually give him good dances." George himself seems to be getting annoyed with the songs he's been given. Ahead of Movie Week, he posted a video to TikTok where he looked teary eyed, grimaced and scratched his head as Soda Pop played. Over the top, he wrote: "On this week's episode of 'a dance you can't imagine George doing'" In response to that video, fans hopped in the comments to agree that it was a poor choice. One said it was "gonna get you guys voted out". They said: "All of the other movies are SO iconic and then there's... this." Only a few days ago, he posted another video showing that he had to shave his beard to be Harry Styles in Icons Week. During the video, he said: "I have to be Harry Styles this week. Please don't make me do it, please don't make me do it, people will hate it." The Mirror asked the BBC for a comment. Like this story?
