Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman pause live show minutes in for announcement

Tess Daly and Claudia Winklem paused the first live show of Strictly Come Dancing to make an announcement about the line-up The hosts were seen back in the ballroom following last weekend's launch show, as the 2025 run of the BBC One dance contest got underway. Saturday night's (September 27) saw the 15 new celebrity couples take to the dance floor for the first time, with them being scored by the judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Motis Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke. But, nobody will be going home this weekend, with the first elimination usually taking place in the second week of the competition, so there will be no results show on Sunday. Meanwhile, early into the opening week of the competition, Tess and Claudia addressed the change to the show's celebrity line-up. News broke days before the hit BBC One show's return for week one of this year's competition that the former Love Island winner Dani Dyer be forced to quit the competition. It was revealed that Dani had been advised to withdraw from the show, having been seen taking part in the pre-recorded launch show last weekend where she was paired with dancer Nikita Kuzmin, after she "landed funny" during a fall in a training session. Having monitored the situation, it's was later confirmed that she'd suffered a break in her ankle and therefore she'll no longer be able to perform. Strictly Come Dancing bosses then announced on Friday (September 26) that Amber Davies , who also won Love Island, will be dancing with Nikita in place of Dani. Addressing Dani's absence Tess said during the opening of the live show: "Before we get started, earlier this week, Dani Dyer had to withdraw from the competition on medical advice after suffering an injury in training." Claudia continued: "Dani, we will miss you so much and all of us are sending you all our love." Tess added: "Lots of love, Dani." She went on to say: "We do have a new face joining the cast, and she's incredibly nervous like the rest of our couples..." before welcoming the 'Strictly stars' into the ballroom. It comes after Dani said in a statement: "I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle. "Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so I've had to pull out of the show." Despite this, Dani still intends to watch this year's Strictly and will be cheering on the other couples instead. The mum-of-three, who is the daughter of actor Danny Dyer and married to West Ham footballe Jarrod Bowen, said: "I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on."
