Baby Yoda may have stolen hearts when The Mandalorian aired six years ago, but Star Wars has just introduced one of his replacements. Now better known as Grogu, Baby Yoda became a pop-culture icon long before The Mandalorian season 1 wrapped up. His impact was so large that he has now grown to be a title character in an upcoming Star Wars movie. Star Wars' very own Mandalorian movie, titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, will see the lovable green alien take center stage. That said, this has not stopped the franchise from introducing other cute aliens that can take the spotlight away from Baby Yoda. In October 2025, a Star Wars TV show did exactly that. Star Wars: Visions Season 3 Has A Cute Youngling To Rival Baby Yoda Star Wars: Visions season 3 was released on October 29, 2025, debuting a new batch of anthology anime episodes set within the Star Wars galaxy. The second episode, titled "The Song of Four Wings," centers on a scouting mission gone wrong, in which a rebel princess finds a town that was decimated by the Empire, alongside a sole survivor. That survivor is an alien youngling named Woopas, who is just as cute, if not more so, than Baby Yoda. Whether it is the animated nature of Star Wars: Visions, which lends to the cuteness of the animated youngling, or the design and sound of the creature himself, Woopas makes a big impression in only a short time. Beyond that, Woopas creates little origami birds that only add to how wholesome the creature is, only bolstered by its tragic backstory as the only alien left alive in its village. The youngling then holds his own against stormtroopers and finds a family in Crane and the other rebels, solidifying Woopas as an adorable alien to rival Baby Yoda. Disney Star Wars Is Controversial, But It Has Nailed Smaller, Cuter Characters If the way Woopas steals hearts proves anything, it is that Disney Star Wars certainly knows how to perfect its smaller, cuter characters. Disney Star Wars has been, to put it mildly, controversial. The movies of the sequel trilogy are often considered the worst-ranked Star Wars movies, with even the TV side of things facing dwindling excitement of late. Criticisms about The Mandalorian and Grogu, Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, the divisive decision to scrap The Hunt for Ben Solo, and the lack of progress on Rey Skywalker's New Jedi Order movie have also caused further controversy about the franchise's cinematic resurgence. Despite all of that, Disney Star Wars has made sure its lovable little creatures are merchandising gold mines. Grogu was proof of that in 2019 and has been since, with BB-8 also being a fan-favorite character in the Star Wars sequels. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, despite the fan war that it began, saw people fall in love with the Porgs, crystal critters, and caretakers of Ahch-To.
