Staffordshire Police commits to supporting anti-social behaviour victims with pledge renewal

The force renewed its commitment on Monday to the ASB Help Pledge, which commits it to working effectively alongside partners to support and give a voice to any victim of ASB. Victims of ASB, which can include individuals, businesses or community groups, can request a formal review of their case if they have reported at least three separate ASB issues within six months and the issue is still ongoing without resolution. If a case meets the threshold for review, a panel of organisations, which can include the police, councils, integrated care boards and social housing providers, will review the details and make official recommendations. The force said that local officers are keen to tackle these issues before they reach this point and continue to work with support organisations, such as ASB Help, to provide individual support for victims. Commander Laura Davies, Staffordshire Police force lead for ASB, said: “We are committed to tackling ASB and supporting victims alongside local partners such as ASB Help. “We do not underestimate the impact that ASB has on local communities, and I hope this pledge provides some reassurance that we will embed best practice into all cases. “I would encourage any victims to report ASB to us, either via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101.” Angela Denison, victim and partnership manager at ASB Help, said: “Anti-social behaviour can have a debilitating impact on a victim’s health and well-being and a devastating effect on the wider community. “By signing up to our ASB Help Pledge, we will work with partners to ensure that they demonstrate their commitment to supporting victims of ASB, and will endeavour to implement and follow best practice with the ASB case review. "It is evident from case studies we see that partnership working is vital to the successful management of ASB cases, and subsequently for a positive approach to ASB case reviews. “ASB Help are delighted that Staffordshire Police have renewed their sign up to our ASB Help Pledge which demonstrates their commitment in supporting partners in promoting best practice for the ASB Case Review. In doing so they are ensuring that victims of ASB in Staffordshire have a voice.” Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “Anti-social behaviour has fallen across Staffordshire in recent years but remains a priority for me and a concern for our communities, and I welcome the ASB Pledge’s focus on tackling this issue through effective partnership working. “Each person’s experience of ASB is different, which is why I commission the ASB Harmony service to offer a range of emotional and practical support for victims that is tailored to their individual needs. “If you’re experiencing ASB, please make use of resources available, such as case reviews and community remedies, and report incidents to Staffordshire Police by calling 101. "If you need support to help you recover from the impact of ASB, contact ASB Harmony on 0330 1757 258.”
