In the two contested St. Vrain Valley school board races, Hadley Solomon and Meosha Babbs are in the lead, based on early election results. In Niwot’s District B, Hadley Solomon had 62.6% of the vote and opponent Peggy Kelly had 37.4%, according to initial results as of 7:45 p.m. from Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. The winner will replace incumbent Karen Ragland, who is term-limited. Solomon is a consultant to technology and climate and sustainability companies. She has said one of the biggest issues facing the district is using technology in safe and effective ways. Kelly is retired after working in health care. She has said the issues facing families and kids will define what she considers the most important issues in the district. In Erie’s District D, Meosha Babbs had 59.3% of the vote and opponent John Ahrens had 40.7%, according to initial results as of 7:45 p.m. from Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. Babbs, the incumbent, is an engineer at BAE Systems Inc. She has said the district must maintain its focus on its foundational mission: rigorous academics, school safety and fiscal stewardship, while simultaneously balancing innovation. Ahrens served two consecutive terms on St. Vrain Valley’s school board from 2014 to 2022 and teaches Apple computer classes. He has said his top issues are supporting every student, maintaining strong fiscal stewardship and continuing to innovate. The other two St. Vrain Valley school board races are uncontested. Incumbent Sarah Hurianek will represent District F, while incumbent Jocelyn Gilligan will represent District E. School board members represent different geographic areas but are elected by voters in the entire district.
