Boulder County voters are favoring approval of Boulder County Ballot Issue 1B, which seeks to establish a mental and behavioral health sales and use tax. As of 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, 60.2% of voters were in favor of the measure and 39.8% were against it. If approved, this measure would create a new sales and use tax of 0.15% for three years to address the unmet needs of youths, adults, families, unhoused people and older adults in Boulder County who have or are at risk of having mental health and substance use disorders. The money from the new tax would fund mental health crisis services; suicide prevention and intervention; mental health and substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery; treatment services for unhoused people; and help for people to find the appropriate services.
