At least six victims abducted from Danjanku village in Musawa Local Government Area have been released by their captors as part of an ongoing peace accord under the Katsina State Government’s Operation Safe Corridor initiative. The victims—Sa’adatu Musa (16), Amina Musa (13), Salisu Musa (12), Ibrahim Musa (12), Wasila Jafaru (20), and infant Al’amin Jafaru (2 months)—regained their freedom on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The release marks a positive outcome of the peace agreement signed in September 2025 between Musawa community leaders and bandit elements, aimed at fostering coexistence, releasing detainees, and curbing violence in the region. Local government officials received the group at Yantumaki Forest, where they were handed over by representatives of the bandits. The victims were immediately transported to the Comprehensive Health Centre in Musawa for thorough medical examinations to assess any health impacts from their ordeal. Following medical clearance, the freed individuals were joyfully reunited with their families in Danjanku village, bringing relief to a community long plagued by banditry. Security agencies, including personnel from Operation Safe Corridor, have pledged continued vigilance to monitor compliance with the accord and prevent future abductions. The Musawa peace deal, one of several brokered across Katsina Local Government Areas this year, underscores community-led efforts to address insecurity through dialogue rather than confrontation. Community leaders hailed the release as a “step toward lasting peace,” while urging all parties to uphold the agreement.
