Fellow passengers are just part of the deal when flying commercial, and while many flights are uneventful and most passengers mind their manners, one passenger has shared the shocking moment the man behind her propped his bare feet up next to her for the entire journey. In a video that has baffled the internet, Boston-based artist Ashley Eisenman shared how the man behind her on a flight from Reno to San Francisco propped his bare feet next to her. “This MFer was lucky it was only an hour flight,” she wrote in the caption on TikTok as the bare foot was pressed against the wall to the right of her seat. As the clip gained more attention on TikTok and Reddit, Eisenman explained: “There was a small space where he had his foot rested right next to my chair. I have a little leather and metal purse with me and I was going to slam it down onto his foot and be like ‘Omg whoopie I’m so sorry.’” A picture of the foot on the flight, left, and Eisenman looking at the camera, right. She added: “He 1000% should be on the no fly list ASAP.” When it comes to airplane etiquette, people are pretty united on the idea of bare feet. A 2018 survey by Expedia of 18,229 travelers across 23 countries revealed that more than 90 percent of people said it is never ok to go barefoot on an airplane. This was particularly true for nearly 75 percent of Americans who said they always keep their shoes and socks on. Internet Reacts Online, people were less than forgiving about the barefoot passenger. On Reddit and TikTok, viewers expressed disgust and amusement while offering tactical advice for how Ashley might have handled the situation. “Do a very loud fake sneeze and then splash water on their feet,” suggested one commenter. While another joked: “Imma start painting toenails and bringing nail polish because NO.” Others said that they would have been much more vocal in the moment. “I would’ve immediately turned around and said something cause HELL NAH,” wrote one viewer. This is far from the first time a passenger’s behavior on a flight has sparked fury online. From a barefoot passenger sparking similar fury to a woman who put her bare foot up right next to her seatmate during a 3-hour journey. But, feet are not always the culprit of airplane fury. One passenger refused to swap from their selected seat and other passengers refused to stand up so that others could use the bathroom.
