Shehnaaz Gill is the latest celebrity to have jumped on the black alkaline water bandwagon. Celebrities like Virat Kohli, Tiger Shroff, Malaika Arora, Karan Johar, and Karisma Kapoor are known to swear by black alkaline water. And now, Shehnaaz Gill has joined the trend. However, she isn’t sure if this concoction truly has any health benefits. “I only drink this during my shoots. It is not expensive as such. It is alkaline water, it has minerals, that’s what I have heard. I drink very less amount of water, but if it were expensive, then I would think that something expensive is going inside me, so I need to drink it,” she said in a chat with Curly Tales. Shehnaaz added, “It is available for Rs 100, Rs 200, and even Rs 600. Nothing happens from drinking it. It is just water. I see something black, so I drink it, thinking of it as black coffee. The taste is the same as normal water.” “A filter is also placed at home for alkaline water. I haven’t gotten it fixed yet, but I will get it done soon. I have also heard that if you wash your hair using this water, it enhances them. I have no idea, I am only following what I have heard. If it benefits after 2-3 months, then I will continue it,” she said. Shehnaaz Gill’s rise from a small-town Punjabi girl to a national sensation is the kind of story that defines modern Indian stardom. Shehnaaz began her career in the mid-2010s, appearing in Punjabi music videos such as Shiv Di Kitaab. Her natural charm and playful confidence quickly made her a familiar face in the regional entertainment circuit. By 2017, she had transitioned into Punjabi cinema, earning praise for her effervescent screen presence. Yet, despite early success, her ambitions were far greater — and it was television that would catapult her into the national spotlight. The turning point in Shehnaaz Gill’s career came in 2019 with her appearance on Bigg Boss 13. Known for her candidness, quick wit, and unfiltered emotions, Shehnaaz stood out among the contestants almost immediately. Viewers adored her innocence, spontaneity, and unabashed humour. Although she did not win the show, she emerged as one of its biggest stars. In the years following Bigg Boss, Shehnaaz became a fixture in Hindi entertainment. She has appeared in music videos, brand endorsements, and talk shows. She also ventured into Hindi films and returned to Punjabi cinema, bridging both industries with remarkable ease. Today, Shehnaaz Gill stands at a new crossroads in her career. She is stepping into the role of a producer with her upcoming Punjabi film Ikk Kudi, a female-centric drama that explores generational relationships and modern womanhood. Originally set for an earlier release, the film has been postponed to October 31, 2025.
