Shedeur Sanders is the backup again for the Jets game; Harold Fannin Jr. and others questionable

BEREA, Ohio — Shedeur Sanders (back) practiced full-go for the second straight day on Friday despite his back injury, and doesn’t have an injury designation for Sunday’s game against the 1-7 Jets at the Meadowlands. Kevin Stefanski said Sanders will return to his role as the backup to Dillon Gabriel for the game after sitting out the 32-13 loss in New England with tightness in his back. In that game, Bailey Zappe served as the backup while Sanders was inactive. His back tightened up overnight the Friday before the Patriots game, and he reported to the club on Saturday morning. Sanders worked out with quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave for about 15 minutes on the field hours before the game, and was soon ruled out. Sanders sat out Monday’s extra practice session coming off the bye, but was back in action on Wednesday on a limited basis. He participated fully on Thursday and again on Friday, and is good to go. Harold Fannin Jr. returns to practice but is questionable Fannin was added to the Browns injury report on Thursday as “did not practice” with a hamstring injury, but was back on the field on Friday afternoon — in a downpour for the early part that was open to the media. The Browns can ill afford to be without Fannin, their leading receiver, as they try to revive their passing game vs. the Jets. Storylines and predictions: Ashley Bastock The culture killer: Why the Jets’ fire sale is a recipe for disaster They’ve been looking forward to having a full complement of pass-catchers vs. the Jets with No. 2 receiver Cedric Tillman returning from his four-week absence with a hamstring injury. Tillman (6-3, 215) gives the Browns a big, body receiver, something they’ve sorely missed during his four-game absence. Stefanki said Fannin’s availability will come down to how he feels over the next few days. WR Isaiah Bond ruled out Bond was ruled out for the Jets game with his foot injury. LB Carson Schwesinger questionable Browns rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger (ankle) is questionable for the game but returned to practice Friday on a limited basis.
